The Magic of Hollywood, Lights! Camera ! Action!
Introduction
Hollywood or Tinsel Town is the home of the American film industry. The first movie studio was established in Hollywood, in the early 1900's, by a company that wanted to make Westerns in California because the climate and long days was good for filming outdoors. TV Stations came to Hollywood in 1947 and in the 1950's music recording studios also came. Together these three industries (Movie, TV and Music) made the city of Hollywood more than just a city where movies were made; it became a natural magnet or stage for the best and brightest in the entertainment industry to come to showcase their talent and creativity. With so many talented and ambitious people in one place, competition amongst the various studios and trades was inevitable. This competition created high expectations for the professionals employed in the Hollywood, which meant that in order to survive everyone, had deliver quality performances on and off the stage. The constant demand for excellence from professional Writers, Actors, Directors, Producers, Cameramen, Sound Technicians, Lighting Specialists, Stunt Men/Women, and Costume Designers etc. ensures that the movies we see are spectacular. All of these professionals working together create a certain chemistry or 'magic', which results in good movies. Even though other countries have developed Film Industries there is nothing like a Hollywood movie.
The 'Magic of Hollywood' attracts everyone to the movies the young, the old, families and couples. A matinee, evening or late night at the movies has become a popular form of entertainment worldwide. Since the early 1900's, people across the world have looked forward to new movies from Hollywood and the Bahamas is no exception in this regard. Movie going, in the Bahamas, has long been a popular form of entertainment. Most Bahamians can recall fond memories of the old theaters, which graced the city of Nassau: the Savoy on Bay Street, The Capitol on Farm road, The Cinema on East Street and later The Wulff Road Theater, Shirley Street Theater, and Sunshine Twin. During the 70's the Prince Charles & Carmichael Road Drive-Ins were also popular. Collectively these movie outlets helped to define the 'Movie Experience' in the Bahamas.
Although modern technology has brought movies into our living room in the form of 'Pay Per View' and DVD’s there is nothing like going to the movies and watching a movie on the 'silver Screen'. The 'movie experience' is fantastic: from waiting in line at the concession stand for popcorn, hotdogs and fountain drinks to watching the previews of movies coming soon to the attention grabbing music, which signifies the beginning of the feature film.
The 'magic of Hollywood' and Junkanoo have a lot of similarities such as: Theme development, costume design and production, music, performance and theatrics and lots of creative and talented people. Junkanoo has also evolved into what is today the same way Hollywood has evolved. Therefore, The Valley Boys found it fitting, on the occasion of our Golden Jubilee; to pay tribute to Hollywood which has had an influence on our development over the past 50 years.

Three: SPIDERMAN
Introduction
Most movie goers, particularly kids and teenagers, would know that we’ve had a trilogy of films centered around the super-hero 'Spiderman'. The Spiderman film productions became an instant hit on their inaugural release in 2002.
Spiderman 1 Released in 2002 :One look at the Green Goblin, the arch rival of Spiderman, and you get the impression that we’re dealing with a menacing character. The glider stands on top of a technologically advanced aircraft fully equipped with highly developed weaponry and the Goblin makes use of everything in his arsenal to terrorize the city and anyone coming into contact with him.
Spiderman 2Released in 2004:Arch enemy, Doctor Ock, with his mechanical tentacles shapes up to be a formidable foe and he is prominently displayed with his long dangling arms just ready to wreak havoc wherever he goes. The extra set of arms makes him virtually unbeatable and he proves to be a terror in the metropolis of New York city.
Spiderman 3Released in 2007:The chief villain in this story is Sandman who has used his supernatural powers to pillage the town. His sheer size is enough to put fright in all whom he encounters and his ability to take on different shapes makes him almost invincible. In this case we’ve created a Bahamian look for this character by using the colour white with a dash of pink in an attempt to emulate the pink sands of Harbour Island.
A sub-plot develops whereby an extraterrestrial life form that feeds on people’s emotion of anger has made its way to planet earth. Peter Parker whose alter ego is Spiderman has had some moments of despair following a break-up with the girl he loves dearly thus he becomes an easy prey for this alien body to attach itself to. Venom is the name of this rival and wears a black spiderman suit. Peter Parker’s working colleague becomes this evil character and is depicted as the Spiderman in a black suit.
Rounding out the description of this lead costume, Spiderman in his full regalia comes flying through the air suspended by his webbing and displaying superior agility just like he does in the movies ready to defend the innocent from these diabolical, maniacs. He is at the pinnacle of the costume flanked by his trusty webbing thus making him highly easily visible for all bystanders and his admirers to see. Music 'surround sound' Theater style Themed Music from various Hollywood movies will be performed such as the Theme song from the ‘Indiana Jones’ Movies. Bahamian contemporary and Junkanoo music will also be performed. Performance – Various themed performances, unique to Hollywood, will be performed by all sections of the Valley Boys.
